Signalgate - The Democrats are all up in arms about the Trump security team using the commercial, encrypted (but insecure for secret information) program "Signal" in early March, texting about the imminent launch of a war on Yemen with specific targets and locations. The national security team, including defense secretary Pete Hegsith, director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Vice President Marco Rubio, and national security advisor Michael Waltz, had inadvertently added a journalist friend of Waltz's (the editor of the "Atlantic"), to the invite list. All the members adamantly stress that no classified information was included in the subject of their text messages. Which is of course a ridiculous lie.
The real issue lost in all of this blather about the use of Signal, is not the stupid and negligent use of Signal that included a journalist, but the fact that not one member of the security team was horrified that this war was unconstitutional, that there was no discussion (or knowledge) of the war among Congress people, and therefore no declaration of war declared as required by the Constitution. Executive US war making and bombing is now so normal, few recognize it as a severe crime under international or US Constitutional Law. Not one of the members of this team has acknowledged any wrong doing, or expressed an apology for breach of serious national security concerns.
